Being a Girl

Was told to dream of stars,
was supposed to be an illusionist,
but instead, was everything else.
Was told to be polite, gentle and calm,
was told to stay away from wars,
but instead, was everything else.
Was told to enjoy and not to toil,
was supposed to fall in love,
but instead, was everything else.
Was told that everything is fine,
was supposed to be beautiful,
but instead, was everything else.
Everything else other than obvious,
fought,surrendered,fought again,
lost, won, lost again,
cried, laughed, cried again,
worked, toiled, failed and failed again,
still laughed, learnt and learnt again,
woke up with the realization that its not the way it was supposed to be,
so slept again,
but then, woke up to face it all,
woke up to stand and fall,
woke up to stand again, all by herself,
woke up to take it all on her small shoulders,
woke up to broaden them,
woke up to take in all that she can,
she woke up to be A MAN..
